I am the luckiest kid ever. My family really does nice things for me. This weekend we went and hung out at grandma and grandpa Wheeler's house. I love going there. They have a big kitchen floor that I love to slide across and they have the best stairs ever.
This has been one groovy week. Because mommy is at work I have been getting to hang out with my aunt Emily. She is so much fun, someday I want to be just like her. I really want to have her long pretty hair. Daddy said I should probably start believing for that now because right now my hair looks more like daddy's.
For my birthday, Aunt Emily gave me a cat that meow's. It is so fun, so now I can say dog both with my hands and my voice, match cats and match horses. Mommy likes to look silly after she shows me a picture of a cat and I find my play cat. That silly mommy. They really think I am cool now becasue I can say "on" "off" and "up." Mommy said that is awesome, but her dream is that she wants me to drink that nasty new white junk she has been putting in my cup.

August 13, 2010 - Mommy had to go to work
Yesterday was an awesome day. My daddy and mommy were home together. We played games, sang songs, and even went shopping. It was so hot outside so the zoo was not a choice. Instead mommy said "Melanie do you want to go shopping or stay at home." I said "up" but I meant to say shopping. My mommy is so smart and she knew that was my secret lanugage so we went shopping.
I am sorry mommy, I know that you wanted to go to work with some darker skin, but because I was not feeling well, we never made it to the pool. I am pretty bummed also, but maybe someday soon we can go there. Mommy went to work today but I had a super duper time because Aunt Emily watched me. I really love my aunt Emily time, those are the best times ever. Well, guess what, now I have a rash from my fever...that means no more swimming today either :(.
My mommy and daddy are doing something really cool, they are both learning how to play an instrument. They are taking guitar classes. I love to hear them practice. Maybe someday they will trust me enough with that big noisy thing.

August 11, 2010 - My brain is on fire
Welp it finally happened, I got a really high fever. Mommy and daddy were nervous at first. They kept putting that cold thing under my armpit. Why don't they understand that I do not under any circumstances like that thing. They kept saying "Melanie, trust me this is way better than where I could put it" I guess someday I will understand that. My temperature got up to 102.7 degrees, yucky. I guess that meant that we had to go to the doctors office. Dr. Church and Nurse Amy were really nice by they made me cry big time. They stuck this really sharp thing in my arm and red stuff came out. Mommy and Aunt Emily even got a little tear in their eyes. The no fun part was then they put a sticky thing in my diaper that I had to go to the bathroom in. YUCK.. Mommy later found out that I had Roseola, not real sure what that is, but oh well...I am getting better. Of course, I really don't want to tell them that I also have my eye teeth trying to come out and boy do those hurt.

August 8, 2010 - The Lake is the Best
I am really getting used to this going to the lake thing. We went again this weekend, and this time it was super awesome. Not only was grandma and grandpa there (and Mallie) but Aunt Emily went and then there was a super duper big fabulous surprise when mommy opened the door. My cousin's Kaley and Braeden were there!!! Oh my goodness they are the coolest. Their mommy and daddy were there also, Mike and Kathy. They talked about their ranch...I think someday I may want to live on one of those. The most fun thing was when we went on the boat and then guess what...we found this place called "Serenity Point" and they had jumping things that you use to get into the water. Everyone used them, my daddy, my grandpa, my cousins and uncle Mike all used the one that was as big as the sky. Mommy said I wasn't big enough yet, so I just went in the water with everyone. I have to be honest, the water wasn't the prettiest, but wow it was fun.

August 14, 2010 - A Smoothie for me
My favorite thing in the whole world are smooties. Daddy wants me to drink this new thing called milk, and well it tastes junky so daddy puts everything in his Vitamix. He calls it the coolest blender in the world. I think my favorite is the milk, banana, yoguart combination.

August 5, 2010 - A trip to Lawrence and more words
So mommy and aunt Emily took me to Lawrence today. I love that place, we went to the really groovy toy store, and I went rocking in the rocking chair. It was so fabulous. I think they got the point, that I really want one of those chairs. We also went to one of mommy's favorite restaurant's, Mad Greek. I had tons of Greek food. But possibly the coolest thing literally, was that I got to try ice cubes. I was even showing off a little bit and said "ice". They smile on mommy and Aunt Emily's face was so funny. Then my mommy let me try her tea...that stuff is good. I think I understand why mommy goes to the Sonic happy hour all of the time. We continued to walk down this street called, Mass. Mom was oohhhing and ahhhing all over, it was crazy. I think she must like this place. Anyway, it was so hot and instead of saying hot, I started signing "water" and Aunt Emily gave me some of her soda...It was good stuff.
Finally after a long day, we were at home. We all went our to eat and then to Bass Pro Shop. I am starting to slowly show mom and dad all the neat tricks I have. I have been talking all day. They don't quite know exactly what I am saving, I am holding some things back. But when we went home we put in the "Praise Baby" DVD that grandma and grandpa Wheeler got me for my birthday. My parents were way impressed, I started singing. It was pretty amazing, the words just came naturally. Then all the sudden, I was doing what mommy does at church, I was signing and lifting my hands...Praising the Lord. Oh what a day!
On yea, I forgot to tell you my parents think they have me fooled. They bought me a phone and put my picture on it. They must think I am silly because I know that it is a play phone. But it makes cool nosies, so I will play along with the game for awhile, then when they least expect it I will demand a real phone...

July 29, 2010 - I made my first phone call today all by myself
Well, I finally did it. I waited for the perfect time, and I found it. Mommy was in the restroom and I had secretly hid the phone from her. Guess what, I had been fooling her all along making her think that I didn't know which button was the important one. Ha ha ha, I really did know. So I pushed the redial button and then the green button!!! I heard the beautiful sound of the phone ringing...I did it I did it....Welp, I called great grandpa Randall. Then mom run into the living room yanked the phone away from me and said "sorry I got the wrong number" Finally she realized I was calling family so she called them back and apologized. When is my mommy going to realize that I am a responsible 1 year old and I can dial and talk on the phone all by myself. If I can figure out this blog thing, I can do anything.

July 26, 2010 - First airport trip - then the doctors
Today was a happy sad day. Mommy, Aunt Emily, and I woke up and drove to this really cool place that flying cars go in and out of. It was kinda loud but it was so groovy. Aunt Emily was going to the place that doesn't sleep. I told her I thought I would fit perfectly there, but she said I couldn't go. It was ok, I got to give her a super big hug good bye. On the way home, mommy and I stopped at the Legends and did some shopping....and I played in the big water faucet. It squirtted out water all over me, it was way cool.
After a quick nap, I went to the doctor. He said I was growing just right. I am 21.1 pounds and 29 inches long. I was really happy when he was checking my ears and my nose, well not really my nose, but in 20 years I want to think that I was perfect at the doctors office. Then I got 3 shots in my legs, those were not fun...Yucky.

July 24, 2010 - We were almost going to meet my cousin and see all of my family
We woke up this morning so super excited to go to Derby Kansas for "Aunt Wanda and Uncle Mike's" anniversary/family reunion. I was also going to meet Rowan, my little cousin. Mommy noticed right away that my forehead was warm. Her and daddy immediately put that cold thing under my arm (I do not like that), and I had a fever. It got all the way up to 101 degrees, so we didn't get to make the trip. It's all ok...I was sad, but I know that it was better to keep everyone safe.
The next day, daddy and grandpa Wheeler worked on getting the backyard ready for my birthday party. You should have seen how strong they were, they were taking down tree limbs and everything. Inside, grandma Wheeler was working on making my birthday outfit. I will do some modeling soon, but no one can see it until the big day.

July 22, 2010 - I'm 1 year old...bring on the ice cream and Spumoni Cake!!! Yippee
Oh what I day, I am so exhausted, I could barely get to the computer. My mommy and daddy are so tired they are on the floor and I cannot get them to open their eyes. Hopefully they are going to want to play soon because I am getting pretty bored.
So here is the timeline of my 1st birthday.
7:45 - Good morning everyone, let's party. I woke up and I feel so big, I gave my parents a super duper smile and was ready to celebrate. My mommy made me eggs with garlic, yummy!!!
9:30 - Kindermusik, Miss Miranda sang fun songs. It was so cool, I even got to introduce everyone to my daddy. He was a little nervous to sing, but he finally sang the Peek-aboo song.
10:30 - A trip to Toys R Us - but my mommy and daddy forgot that it was my birthday because when we came out the cart was EMPTY, what kinda of party is this.
11:00 - COPA ROOM!!! Yippeee we are going to Copa we are going to Copa, oh my goodness I was so excited, I don't think anyone realizes just how much I love that place. Usually we go there on Saturday's so this was an extra special day. It was awesome, our first ever waitress, Kristy was there - she is so pretty, I love watching her walk aroud. We were bummed that Jessica wasn't there, but we smiled when we got to see Kristi again. Well, so mommy and daddy thought it would be a good time to introduce me to Spumoni Cake and Ice Cream. I'm not going to lie, it was fabuolous!!! I mean fabulous. I told mommy, daddy, and Emily they could finish off the cake but I was ready for the Ice Cream. I thought there was no real need for a spoon, so I just stuck my whole hand in the ice cream. Man was it cold, but there was something so fabulous about it. Wow, what a lunch. There was this cute little girl there who I kept talking to, someday when I grow up I want to be just as pretty as her. I even told her to tell her Nani, that she is probably the best cooker lady ever. Time to leave Copa, I am sad, but I am so tired. As I was looking at the trees I decided it was time to fall asleep.
12:45-2:45 Nap time. So I really don't remember what I dreamed, I think it was about breaking the swimming pool in mommy's tummy and the first time that I got to cry for my mommy and daddy. I love seeing the smile on their faces.
3:30 - Deanna Rose with Mom, Dad, and Aunt Emily. Oh my goodness, did you know that in this big town there are goats, cows, smelly pigs, and geese. Well there are. Mommy said it probably isn't as cool as Aunt Kathy's house in Texas, but man was it groovy. The goats kept trying to eat my dress, just like in the song To Market To Market. We played on the swing, slid down the slides, and climed around the garden. It was such a beautiful day, but my new favorite word to say it HOT!
Dinner Time - It's time for more Cake and Ice Cream. I can really get used to this birthday stuff. But I am so tired, I don't even know if I can keep my eyes open.
So did you know that when you get old you get to unwrap things and they are called presents. It is so stinkin' cool. I walked down stairs and there was a big blanket over something, so I pulled that blanket off...and guess what. My very own kitchen. It is even pink. I cannot wait to bake everyone brownies. Mommy said that someday I will get to have something called an Easy Bake oven, but I had to practice on this one first.
Well, my first 365 days were amazing, I cannot wait for the may more thousands of days to come. Thank you Jesus for putting me where you did. I love my family, they are practically perfect in every way.

July 17, 2010 - Happy birthday Great Grandma, wow she has alot of friends
So we started out on Friday trying to get to Great Bend and then within 3 blocks of our house, our car started to move. The wind, rain and hail was so strong that it took our car and moved it. Luckily we found a car wash and parked underneath it. Finally, an hour after we planned to leave we were finally on the road. It was a really long drive but when we made it, I had so much fun staying up with Grandpa Vink and Uncle Gavin. I was pretty bummed though, Uncle Gavin had surgery so he had both of his legs in big bandaids and then walked in a wheel chair.
On Saturday morning, we went to Great Grandma Sally's and ate breakfast with everyone. Wow, it was so yummy. I loved hanging out with my cousin's Kaylee and Braeden. Then it was off to Ellinwood so daddy could cook the meat for the big party.
6:00 PM, it was party time. Oh m goodness, Great Grandma had 75 people come and sing Happy Birthday to you. I love that lady, she is so super sweet. She has the nicest smile in the whole wide world. I then got to meet my cousin Evan, he was a blast. He is so much bigger than me, but I know that someday we are going to be great friends.

July 14, 2010 - Today I am thankful for future friends
Today my mommy told me all about her best friend growing up, Kevin Jenisch. Their houses were right next to one another's. She talked about how they used to make mud pies together, eat cereal, play basketball, and pretend they were rock stars together. She said he was one of the most important people in her life. Then she prayed for me that someday I would find a friend that was just as special for me as Kevin was to her. I cannot wait for what God has planned for me. I bet He has the perfect friend picked out for me and I cannot wait to meet them. Who knows, maybe that kiddo is playing games and singing songs with their mommy and daddy just like I do.

July 13, 2010 - I got mail today
Today was the coolest thing ever, mommy went to go get papers out of that big black box in front of our house and instead of putting everything in the recycle box she gave me one of the envelopes. It was a birthday card from my great grandma Vink. That's right, I am officially part of the family, I am getting mail!!! I cannot wait to tell her thank you this weekend when we go to Great Bend.
Mommy wanted me to write down some of the fun things that I have been doing (besides walking).
I am bear walking all over the place, it is way faster than walking.
Laughing when I see pictures of myself and my family.
My favorite new word is "hi."
Eating finger foods.
Drinking from an open cup.
My favorite game is 1,2,3 snuggle snuggle snuggle
I typically will sleep with my body in the downward dog yoga position
I like to read with my books facing the right direction, none of that upside down stuff.
Have a great day, I will talk to you soon.

July 12, 2010 - I have 6 teeth
Mommy and I are spending so much time together. I have been going to play groups at her school. There are so many kids there. I absolutely love playing in the sand table, don't tell mommy but I secretly dumped some blue sand on the carpet. I am even climbing up the stairs, through the tunnel and down the slide. But the coolest thing there is the kitchen. I can pretend that I am cooking!
Sunday at church was super fun. There was this lady there who was playing with me and her name was Melanie. I tried to tell my mommy before she left that she forgot to tell them how much formula to put in my bottle. I kept trying to Melanie, but she couldn't understand me so she put my number up in the sancutary. My mommy said that my number was called...9904. I was having so much fun but I did get a little fussy. When we got home daddy finished putting up a shed in the backyard, I cannot wait to see all of the stuff we are going to put in it.

July 5, 2010 - I love Fireworks on the boat
We just spend the past 3 nights at grandma and grandpa's house. My grandma taught me how to give kisses in the mirror and then I realized that the little gril looking at me in front of my car seat (in the mirror) all of this time was me. I am one cute little girl.
The trip was perfect, daddy had the most fun I think. He was catching fish and riding a motorcycle on water..I didn't understand that because it could not be near as fun as the boat, but he came home with red makeup all over his skin.
For firework night we all went on the boat and wow, they were so close that they were almost landing on us. I loved hearing all of the crash and boom sounds and the pretty lights were awesome. I wasn't the biggest fan of the finale because there was a little bit too much, but oh my goodness, 363 days until next time.
I loved it when grandma sent mommy and daddy on a date, and we went to the park and to the Drappers house. There were kids everywhere. I went down slipper slides and played in the grass. But I would have to say that my favorite thing was this weekend, I really loved watching my "that baby" dvd. Oh my goodness those are the best songs ever! And daddy even let me watch it on the way home.

July 1, 2010 - I am a WALKER
Mommy and I went to kindermusik today. It was so much fun. I saw all of these kids using their feet in a different way. I had tried it before, but only for about 3 seconds, mommy always said "good standing." I really didn't know what that meant, but when they were singing "Peek-a-boo" I did that standing up thing for 20 seconds. My mommy about passed out, then all of the sudden, I started to move towards one of the kiddos, and mommy grabbed me as fast as she could. She said something about me not being able to walk without daddy. When we went home, mommy, aunt Emily, and I practiced standing and it was a blast, but those little stinkers...they kept holding me back from what I really wanted to do.
6 PM - thank goodness, daddy is home. I said "daddy get over here so I can show you a new trick" and guess what. I took 3 steps!!! Yippee. I was going to save it for grandma and grandpa at the lake, but I just couldn't hold it in any longer.

June 29, 2010 - What a wedding weekend
Sunday was exciting too. You know, I have gone to the nursery a few times when we go to grandma and grandpa's church but never at Life Church. Well, today was the day. I was heading to the room where all the kids go wild. I won't tell my mom and dad, but I probably had more fun than they did. I sang songs and showed the little kids how to stand up and cruise around. When we got home, I took the best nap ever and then it was time for dinner. I have been eating more food lately, like toast and eggs, noodles, and now mommy gave me the real veggies, not that blended stuff. I loved the carrots and cauliflower, but the broccoli...well lets just say I had a night like the good old days. Mom and dad had to bring out the bouncy ball because my tummy was really not too happy. It kept making those funny grumbling sounds, I told the monsters to get out of there but they didn't listen.
Oh well, off to the next week, 4 more days of swimming lessons then off to the lake!!!

June 25th - I met a new friend
So yesterday was a super busy day. Mommy and I went to kindermusik, I had so much fun. It was kinda neat, there were these two pretty little girls there. And they were moving all around the floor on their feet and not their knees. It was so neat, someday soon I will have to practice that. One of them kept coming up and giving me hugs and kisses, she really made me smile. Later on, daddy took me to swimming lessons. I am getting this kicking thing down, it is so much fun. Daddy doesn't realize that I just want to stand on the boogie board, but that's ok. Then all of the sudden, they had me put my whole body and face in the water. It reminded me of when I was in mommy's tummy. I really didn't like it much, but I acted like a big kid and I didn't even cry.
Today, mommy and daddy were both home so we went and partied. We went to the place with all of those shopping stores in it, wow, I love that place. Then mommy and daddy drove me to where I was born. I kindof remember it was a cool place because people always wanted to hug me. This time we were there to meet Sarah and Brandon's new baby, Conner. He decided to leave his mommy's tummy yesterday. He was so cute. I tried to talk to him, but he didn't like to keep his eyes open to look at me. I bet his big sister will teach him how to do that. I was pretty pooped out but then we went to Miss Sarah and Mr Cord's pool. That was groovy, it wasn't like swimming lessons because there was no one there. It was like our very own dream pool.

June 22 - I am 11 months old
Oh my goodness, I cannot believe it. It has been almost 1 year since I told mommy it was my turn to come and see the world...Today mommy and daddy hooked up this really cool telephone. It uses my favorite toy the 'laptop' and let's me see my silly grandma and grandpa. We had so much fun, we called grandma and Grandpa Vink. They thought that I had grown so much. I really loved seeing my uncle Gavin, he is so big, I cannot wait to climb on him. I was having so much fun that we called my grandma and grandpa Cody. I thought it would be cool to show off so when my daddy said say "love you", I totally said it...They all thought that was the coolest thing ever. Just wait until I do my next trick, maybe I should show them how I have been practicing walking.

Slippery FIsh ~ That's Me
Guess what I did today. I got mommy and daddy in a swimming pool at the same time. That is right I went to my first swimming lesson. There were so many fun kiddos there. We sang songs, and I learned how surf on a a big piece of rubber. It was so funny, mommy wasn't tall enough to go all over the pool, but daddy did. And best of all, I learned to splash. I am keeping it a secret, but I also learned how to kick, but I decided that I would wait to show mommy and daddy that until next time. Oh yea, and there was a cute 2 year old boy there...I will keep you posted on how that goes.

My Mommy and Daddy have been married for 4 years
It was going to be a busy weekend. My grandma Paula was in Lawrence with her friends; Sharon, Marla, and Donna. They call themselves the Knights of the Roundtable. Not really sure what that means, but they have been friends since they were in their mommies tummies. That is a super duper long time. Anyway, I got to meet them, and they gave me a new name I am the first grand-knight! I have to get that on a tee-shirt.
Since it was also mommy and daddy's anniversary that meant that I got to go party with grandma and grandpa Wheeler. Yippee. That meant that I got to stay up late, eat everything I wanted, and even go without a nap, oh yea, and hit the pool. It was awesome. I hope mommy and daddy had a nice dinner out. They also went to see mommy's friend Tami marry the man God picked out for her. I heard that it was beautiful, and my mommy cried again. That silly mommy.

I Could Get Used To This...
Anyway, so "uncle" Chris took mommy and I to surprise Grandma Paula and Grandpa Dale at the lake. Yippee it was so much fun. I played with Mallie, we rolled the ball back and forth and back and forth and back and forth. Mommy said I did it for a really long time. But I keep telling her I am learning how to take turns. Guess what, grandpa Dale got a new parking spot for the boat. They call it a dock, but to me it is just like the driveway. Of course, no lake trip would be complete without going on Grandma's boat. I loved being in the sun. My mommy put all of this white stuff all over me and then kept me covered up when all I really wanted was a tan, but oh well. The final destination was the "Aqua Bar" wow, that placed rocked. I got to watch so many people, and they all commented on my pink Jayhawk hat.
Finally, Daddy showed up. He had to come after work. I was so impressed that him, Grandpa Dale, and "Uncle" Chris went fishing at 6am. I was still asleep (that is because I make my mommy get up with me just about 3 hours earlier so I was really tired). After a really long day of fishing they caught 34 fish. "Uncle" Chris caught one that was as big as me. Oh my goodness, I mean, it was huge. They put it next to me and that did NOT make me very happy...it smelled like dirty diaper.
I am not too sure how it happened, but suddenly we were having a "fish fry." Daddy said when I get older I can have some and that he will teach me all about fishing. I cannot wait, Grandpa told me he would buy me my own fishing pole.
It was another unbelievable weekend at the lake, as much as I want grandma and grandpa to live right next to me. I definitely understand why they like living on the lake.
