September 15, 2009 - A Day of honor for Patrick Swayze & I Go Back to the Doctor

I love dancing with Mommy and Daddy especially when we are watching "Dirty Dancing"

Mommy was really sad today, her favorite actor Patrick Swayze went to meet Jesus today. She had me watch this movie called Dirty Dancing, mom said that she used to watch it all of the time. It was a pretty cool movie, but I don’t know if she will ever let me dance that way. After we watched the movie, mom put me in this outfit to honor Mr. Swayze, it said “nobody puts baby in the corner.” Then we were off to the doctor. Mom really wanted to talk to Doctor Church to see if all of this food coming up my throat was normal. I keep telling her it really hurts and I wish it felt better. I loved seeing nurse Katie and nurse Amy. But when they took me to check and see how much I weighed (10.5 pounds) I went potty right all over mommy’s pretty shirt. Oops, I don’t know if she was real happy about that.

September 13 - Grandparents Day & Aunt Emily's Birthday

The letter I wrote to all of my grandparents and great grandparents...I love them so much. Happy Grandparent's Day, and Happy Birthday Auntie Emily

Another special day, Grandparent’s day and Aunt Emily’s birthday.  “Aunt” Darcie and “Uncle” Mike came over and daddy made ribs. My mommy said it was the best cooking ever! I loved the smells. I think that I am torn between garlic and BBQ. Daddy said that I live in Kansas City so I have to like BBQ.

September 12, 2009 - Grandma & KU's Bday, Labarge Cup

Yippee, another Daddy is finally home day. It was a big day today, we went to our first party. Who would have known that my first party would be to watch people play badminton. It was time for the Labarge cup, the annual tournament and Sarah, Brandon, and Emily’s house. Well, guess what I did, I fell asleep right as we were supposed to go, so mommy and daddy didn’t get to play. I guess they have won it before, they called them self team MUKU. Again, another reference to their favorite teams. I had a great time, I got to see all of mommy’s friends. And today was another special day, it was grandma Cody’s and KU’s birthday!!! Happy Birthday, I heard that birthday’s are pretty important. Mommy wanted to take my picture today in my KU outfit. It was the shirt mommy bought to give daddy when she told him I was in her tummy back in November. I guess that means it was a pretty special t-shirt. I cannot wait to wear more of those Jayhawk clothes.

This was the shirt mommy bought daddy to tell him that they were having me... I love BOTH KU AND MU though.

September 11 - A Day of Rememberance

My mommy told me today is a very special day for America. It was the 8th anniversary of the September 11th attacks on New York, the Pentagon, and Pennsylvania. Mommy said that it was a day that she will never forget, a day where the country was united and brought together. A tragically beautiful day in American history. Mommy and I remembered those lost by dancing together to American music. In the morning mommy had to go and get a sonogram of her gall bladder. The doctor said to her that after she had me something stopped working right in her body. So Aunt Darcie went with us to the doctors office. It was really cool, the same lady that did the 24 week sonogram of me, Paulette was there to look inside mommy’s gall bladder. After the appointment, we went to eat at Zio’s it was awesome. I could smell all of the Italian food, them mommy told me that I am part Italian, no wonder I love garlic.

September 10 - Aunt Darcie and I hung out

Today my aunt Darcie and I hung out. We had so much fun. She told me all about her favorite team, the “Wildcats.” I am learning all of these different passions of my favorite people: the Jayhawks, the Tiger, the Chiefs, the Royals, and now the Wildcats, I wonder which one I will learn next.

September 7, 2009 - Mommy went to the doctor

Today it was mommy's turn to go to the doctor. He made sure her tummy was all better. Me on the other hand, I was not happy that the appointment wasn't for me. I made sure that each nurse had the chance to hold me. And it was so silly, they couldn't get me calmed down. I kept trying to tell them, all I wanted was my special blanket that Miss Gina made for me. Mommy needed to wrap me up. Once they figured that out, it was perfect.

This was also the day that mommy decided that soy formula was no longer for me. She is pretty convinced that I have refulx. I keep crying after I eat. I even show them how much it hurts by grunting, arching my back, holding my fists really really tight, and of course, waking up all of the time. I don't know if the forumla is going to help, but hopefully it smells better. I tell you what that soy stuff, yucky smelling.

September 9, 2009 - I am 7 Weeks Old!!!!

Yesterday was a big day. I went to Miss Cheri's house for the first time. I loved seeing all of those kids and I really thought being rocked by Cheri was completely awesome. Mommy had to go to a meeting. She is doing this diaper study and they give her free diapers. I hope the diapers are good, if they are not then we might have some serious problems. After Cheri's house we went home to eat some yummy food. Well, it was making my tummy a little upset. But we had to go to mommy's doctors appointment. While she was seeing Dr Church, Nurse Katie and Nurse Amy held me. I was screaming big time. Once mommy swaddled me, I calmed back down.

And last night, I didn't want to fall asleep. Mommy and daddy tried everything. This what Daddy emailed mom about the night, her is what he said.

"Tell Melanie that I have dance with Cinderella song in my head…  I am just picturing her in my arms right now.  But I’m also thinking it wouldn’t be there if she would just fall asleep like she is supposed to…"
Today, I am 7 weeks old. I really cannot beleive it, I have been here for 49 wake ups. That is 343 bottles, 441 diapers, and 98 loads of laundry. Wow, I have an awesome  mommy and daddy.

September 6, 2009 - Another day at the beach

Aunt Emily and Dan came to visit. We had so much fun. Unfortunately, our boat wouldn't start, but Carolyn and George were so nice they let us ride on their boat. It had a really pretty purple top. I watched eveyone ride on their jet ski, but the most fun I had was eating with everyone at Island Joes. Thanks grandma and grandpa.

September 5 2009 - Oh the boat, I love the boat

Guess what, grandma stayed up with me last night, she gave mommy and daddy a night off. How awesome is she. I loved waking up and seeing her face and then I saw Grandpa Dale also when he left for work. He leaves really early, the sun isn't even out yet. Once everyone woke up we went into town to see all of Grandma Paula's friends. We went to this way cool store it was Sharon's, I cannot wait to shop there for my house. Sharon was way fun, I met her grand nephew Parker, he was a cute boy, but probably too old for me. Then we met Vida and Rick, they were so nice to me. We took pictures and ate at the Hilltop Cafe. Thanks Vida and Rick. I cannot wait to meet their grandkids, they sound way groovy.

When we went back to the lake, we waited for grandpa Dale to come home. Let me tell you, it was worth the wait. Grandma bought me this way neat life jacket, just for me. I love it. I feel so safe wearing it. Then we were off to the boat. The sound of the motor, the feeling of the waves, it was perfect. Captain Dale even let me practicce driving.

Tomorrow Aunt Emily and Dan are going to come and visit. And George and Carolyn are so nice, they are going to let daddy ride the jet ski. He is so excited. I cannot wait to wave to him on the lake.

The coolest thing of all is that I have my own limo...the golf cart. I ride in style.

September 4, 2009 - Clean the house, then ROAD TRIP

Guess what, my grandma Paula came to visit me yesterday. It was so good to see her again. She told me that she could feel me on her cheek when she was gone, she is such a sweet grandma. She thought mommy and daddy needed a night off (I guess I cry in the middle of the night, who knew) so she fed me last night. It was great, she did something special that didn't even make me spit up. That is one impressive grandma. Then when I woke up for good, there was this really good smell in the house. My mommy told me "Melanie, can you smell that, it's Clorox. On Saturday's that is what the house will smell like, just like when I was a kid." I really wanted to tell mommy that it was Friday, but she was having too much fun smelling this Clorox stuff. I have to admit, the house was really clean. It was funny watching mommy and grandma walk around the house picking up all of my stuff. I tried to tell them where to put things, but they didn't listen.
After the house was all clean, we went with Cousin Chris to Chipotle. It was really loud in there, but I was a super star and slept through the entire meal. Someday I am sure I will love eating there. Mommy and grandma wanted to get an early start to go see Grandpa Dale, so we started off. It was really rainy, so I stayed cozy in my carseat and slept until Fort Scott. Well, you guessed it, my tummy was hungry. I didn't get to eat Mexican like mommy and grandma so we stopped by the local hospital so they could feed me. Let me tell you, that was one beautiful hospital. I hope we stop there again. I did so good eating, that we were back on the road. But you know, me exactly 3 hours later I was awake again wanting more food. So I got a little nibble but we were almost to grandpa, so we just put in some Garth Brooks and sang the rest of the way.
I cannot wait to wake up at the lake. I promise I will let you know all of the fun things that we do.

September 2, 2009 - I am 6 Weeks Old and an early morning walk

6 week picture
Yippee, I am 6 weeks old today. Mommy and Miss Valerie took me to a big consignment sale. It was lots of fun, mommy bought me some new cool stuff. She even bought daddy a new diaper bag so he doesn't have to carry around mommy's.

Miss Valerie and Mike
Overall the day was fabulous, but I had a super hard time going to sleep. Mommy put me in my own bed, it is so cozy in there. Well, it wasn't the magic I needed to fall asleep. So at 4:30 am, my mommy put on her coat, put me in the car seat/stroller and off we walked. It was fabulous, it was just the perfect medicine, I was asleep in no time. A great way to end my 6 weeks here out of the tummy.
