August 30, 2009 - Dancing with Daddy

Today we tried to take pictures again. I cannot wait to see them. I was a little cranky towards the end, but Miss Kim said we got a couple of good ones. When we came home, it was daddy's turn to help me fall asleep. He had a great idea...let's dance to sappy daddy daughter songs. It was so much fun, and I even saw daddy have some tears. I love dancing with my daddy.

August 29, 2009 - Chiefs Game

This has been a real busy 24 hours. My friend Darcie came over to see me today.  She rocked me and helped me to fall asleep.  On Friday, we went to grandma and grandpa Wheeler's tonight for Great Grandpa Randall's birthday. It was a sweet birthday. He decided to give me a present. He made me a doll cradle, it was perfect. I even took a nap in it.  It was getting really late and my parents could not decide who would drive home, so they decided to stay the night. Those silly adults. So it was my first overnight trip. I thought I did pretty well. Mommy and daddy said I make lots of funny noises in the middle of the night, especially when I don't have my noise maker. 


The next morning grandma Wheeler made everyone pancakes, I cannot wait to eat some of those. Her and mommy also started sewing, she taught my mommy may new things. It was getting late and my parents were supposed to go back home to get the Cheifs game tickets. Well, cousin Chris had extra tickets so they ended up meeting with him to go to the game. I had so much fun when they were away. Grandma Wheeler gave me a bath and took really good care of me.

August 27, 2009 - Music, shopping, pictures, and more

Today was revelation day for my mommy. She was shopping at Hobby Lobby thinking oh my goodness Christmas stuff already. And then, all of the sudden she realized that I need a Christmas stocking!!! Yippee. I am getting my own stocking. She said that Santa brings candy and cool stuff to put inside of the stocking. He somehow is going to fit down our chimney, I cannot wait to see that.

We also went to Kindermusik. I really love to sing and the pretty lights were the coolest thing ever. I was so excited that I fell asleep. Love those kind of activities.

Tonight it was picture night. Miss Kim was going to take our pictures. She is really good. I cannot wait to see her again. Why you ask will I be seeing her again, well, I wasn’t the most cooperative person out there. My tummy hurt so I didn’t get many pictures, and I didn’t get to wear the really pretty outfit mommy and daddy bought for me. I guess we will try again.

August 26, 2009 - I am 5 Weeks Old!

Today is my 5 week birthday!! Wow, I am getting so big and so old. It is much harder for me to put my feet all  the way to my ears now. Mommy said that your flexibility goes away when you get older so we are still doing yoga to help.

August 25, 2009 - Another Doctors Day

Miss Mandy came today to visit mommy and me. She has the sweetest voice it really makes me smile. Today my mommy took me to the doctors office. Like I have said before, I love going there. They alwasy tell me how pretty I am....I guess that I have something yucky on my tongue called Thrush. So they gave me this medicine that mommy calls my doughnuts. She calls it that because when I was in her tummy, I loved it when she ate doughnuts, it was the only thing that would stop her tummy from hurting. I keep getting bigger and bigger. I weighed 9.4 pounds (60%), 21.5 inches tall (48%), and I have a really big head 14 3/4 inches (55%).

August 24, 2009 - Swaddle Me Daddy

Daddy and Mommy have really taken to the DVD, the "Happiest Baby on the Block." Now i must admit there are times when I am not the happiest baby on the block or even in the house, but they try to make me happy and they ususally do. Daddy does this wonderful thing where he swaddles me in a blanket and it keeps me feeling safe. It really feels like I am in mommy's tummy, so tight and warm. I love it. Then he puts my ear up to his mouth and he says "shhhh", it is a beautiful thing. And guess what, I almsot always calm down or fall asleep. Well there is something that he and mommy don't know, sometimes I get a little excited in there, again, kinda like when I was in mommy's tummy and I get my arms moving all over the place and I BREAK FREE. That is what I did in this picture. 

I love my play mat that Miss Dawn gave me. Today, I found myself in the mirror and I smiled super big. My mommy was so proud of me!

Oh yea, today, I also had my first "blow out" it really wasn't that bad. But mommy caught it just in time before it really was out of control. I am sure someday I will share more with her and even with daddy. But daddy really doesn't like changing my poopy diapers like he used to when I was first out of mommy's tummy. He said they smell really bad now

August 23, 2009 - I Love Emily

 

My Aunt Emily

So I have this really great Aunt, her name is Emily. She really loves me a bunch. I love it that she comes to stay with me, changes my diaper and gives me great hugs. She will even hold me so my mommy and daddy can eat.

 

On Friday, we went to my grandma and grandpa Wheeler's house to watch the Chiefs game. Brett Farve was playing for the Vikings, I guess that is a big deal. The Chief's didn't lose but I tried to cheer for them. I think they thought my cheering meant that I wanted to bounce on the ball...thank you Grandpa Wheeler.

I really love to be outside, but do not like to be awake

I love this thing called the weekends. That means that mommy and daddy are both here to take care of me. Today is my 1 month birthday, we were so excited to take some pictures. Mommy and daddy took me outside where the sun is so pretty and we all made sure to smile big. I even had a sticker on my shirt that said 1 month. I am getting so big. My daddy weighed me and I am 9 1/2 pounds. Oh and now my daddy learned about something called Facebook. He has been having fun playing a game called Mafia Wars. He even showed his friends pictures of me. I cannot wait to have my own facebook page.

August 19, 2009 - No Lights

So when I was taking a nap, my mommy heard a boom sound. Luckily I didn’t hear it, it might have scared me. Turns out during my nap the power went out. Mom and cousin Chris hung out for 4 hours and the neighbors came by too because they couldn’t get into their house. Daddy got home and soon the power went on, but we still decided to go out to eat instead of trying to cook.

August 18, 2009 Take Your Daughter To Work Day

I was so hungry today and so were my mom and dad. I took a really really long car ride downtown to see my dad at his work. They took me to the same restaurant (well not the exact restaurant) when they found out I was going to be Melanie and not Elijah, Dairy Queen. Then daddy took me to a big shiny building and we rode on a roller coaster (the elevator). I met all of his friends they thought I was a pretty girl. I surprised them and might have relived myself when they were holding me, sorry.

August 17, 2009 A New Friend

Today one of my new friends came out of her mommy’s tummy. She stayed in her mommy longer than I did. Her name is Kaitlyn Murphy. Her mommy and my mommy are good friends. Miss Dawn, little Sophia, and Miss Georganna came to see me today they helped me fall asleep it was so perfect.

August 16 ,2009 - My Parents are "That Parent"

9:00 pm we are at a big store called Wal-mart. My mommy said she would never be "that parent" that took her kid out after bedtime. I guess she told a white lie. It looks like I have alot of things to teach her. But I needed some more diapers, I go through those so fast. I am really glad that my mommy doesn’t leave my diaper wet or dirty, she takes really good care of me. On our way home, we went by Miss Georganna’s house and saw Miss Andrea, Miss Gina, and Miss Jill. Then mommy drove by Liberty View Elementary (the first day of school is tomorrow) and she started to have tears come down her face. I am not sure what that is called yet, because I don’t have those tears thing. I wonder if I will ever get them. She told me that Liberty View was her old school and that she had many many friends there. This is the first time in 8 years that she did not welcome kids to the first day of school at LVE. When she goes back to work, she will be at a new school. I cannot wait to see them both.

August 15, 2009 Mommy and Daddy Night

I’ve only been around for a couple of weeks, but I have a feeling that my mommy and daddy might need a night out. So this football team is playing tonight. My daddy calls them the Chiefs; he makes me do the Tomahawk chop with my arms. He makes a strange oh ahh ohhoohhh sound with his mouth. So I am going to go to grandma and grandpa Wheeler’s house so my mommy and daddy can go on a date. When mommy and daddy came to pick me up they said the Cheif's have a bunch of growing to do, kinda like me. Mommy and daddy looked like they went to a swimming pool without me. That is not fair, but they didn't look happy. I thought you were always happy when you were playing in water until they informed me that it was raining during the game.

August 14, 2009 - My First Bar

Grandma and Grandpa Cody came back to see me. They helped my mommy and daddy around the house so much. Grandpa cut the grass, he used a loud pair of scissors they called it a lawn mower. Grandma helped my mommy wash all of my clothes in the loud spinning machine – I totally dig that machine. Grandma and grandpa thought that I should be looking pretty so we could go shopping, so they put me in this super big thing with water in it. The water smelt do good and it was so warm, reminded me of the good old days in mommy’s tummy. Then we were off to the mall again and then a huge mansion with a bunch of places to sit for sale (Nebraska Furniture Mart). But I missed my daddy, when he got off of work he wanted to go to eat at Gertz Grill. Guess what, the music was so loud it was perfect. Mommy said it was a bar and that I couldn’t go to those places without her or daddy until I was really old, and that I can never meet boys there. What are boys, do I know any? I may have to put a note in my memory to learn more about boys.

Grandpa Vink came over early this morning and he brought something that was hot to drink. Mommy told me that she used to drink it before I was in her tummy and that she really misses it. I was sad that after we went to the great mall, that the Vink clan had to go home. I am going to miss them. Hopefully they can come visit again.

I decided I can get used to this shopping thing. There are all of these funky lights, they are my favorite. My mom told me that someday I will like the things in the store more than the ceiling, I think she is pulling my leg. Now I do have to say Oak Park Mall is NOT stroller friendly. Now my mommy really fell in love with a store, and she wanted to buy me everything there. All of these clothes had a cool bird on them; mommy told me it was the Jayhawk!

When we came home, my daddy weighed me, I am now 8 pounds and 4 ounces. That means that I am one big girl!

August 12, 2009 - A Big Day of First's

I am living the life....

I have an uncle…we call him Uncle GFunkale, his real name is Gavin. I also met my aunt Lyndsae, she was really really tall, I saw a lot more things when she was holding me. Grandpa and grandma Vink liked having me in their arms. They told me they liked a school called Kansas. I wonder if that is what mommy and daddy keep talking about. One sings a song about Rocks and Chalk and the other one keeps trying to spell something Mizz…

Did you know that you don’t always have to eat at your house? I went to a restaurant, it was really loud in there but it smelled so very good. But then all of the sudden I got so excited that my mom had to change my diaper. I have the best mommy she took me into this room and they had a special place just for me.

To celebrate my 2 week birthday, everyone went to eat at Houilians. It was the perfect place for me to take my long nap. After dinner we went to Kansas Sampler – I think I could get used to this shopping thing. Mommy and daddy didn’t shop together at this store. Mom was on one side and daddy was on another. I think it had something to do with those songs they were singing to me when I was in mommy’s tummy.

August 11, 2009 Decision Day

My mommy made a big decision today. I have been trying to tell her that the milk she was feeding me didn’t make my tummy feel very well. She finally heard me, so she switched my milk to this stuff called soy. It is really yummy. I could tell that mommy liked it too, because she had a really big smile on her face when my tummy didn’t make funny sounds after I ate. I later found out that everyone in mommy's family had to be on soy formula. I do hope someday I can drink regular milk, but for now the pink lid stuff is golden. She also took me to a Doctor called a chiropractor. It was way cool, he had this groovy pen that he put on my back and my hips and it made them feel so much better. After we went to the doctor we went for a stroller ride, it was way awesome. But my mommy and I didn’t like that all of the sidewalks were under construction.

August 10, 2009 - In My Own Bed (for a nap)

Today was another big day for me. I have this really pretty bedroom and fabulous furniture that my grandma and grandpa Cody, Great grandma Napolitano, great aunt Rose, and mommy and daddy bought for me. It is really cool and so peaceful. Well, today was my first day to take my nap in my very own bed. It took me a really long time to fall asleep, but once I did it was so fun. I still sleep in the bassinet at night, and sometimes I like to dream when I am snoozing on daddy's arm. I know this will all change soon, but for now, I am totally digging it.

August 9, 2009 - MY DUE DATE

Guess what today is; it is my due date. Now if I would have waited this long to come out of mommy's tummy then mommy would have a new hair cut, pretty toes, and a non-sore back; oh yea and a couple of date nights with daddy. But I had it in the cards for them to see me early. I am so excited that my mommy’s tummy wasn’t my home for this long. It is so much more fun to stretch out my arms and have room to move. Mommy just really isn’t that tall and I like having space.

August 8, 2009 - Daddy Day

Daddy time daddy time, I can’t believe it is finally daddy time. I have been waiting for 5 wakeups to be with my daddy all day and it is finally here. I cannot wait for my fun weekend! I’m not going to lie, I was kinda fussy today. I am just trying to teach mommy and daddy my cries, I have some really really good ones.

August 7, 2009 Bath Day with Grandma and Grandpa Cody

My grandma Paula came up to see me again. I think that I have so many around me who love my family, and how cool is it that so many people come to visit. I also met mommy’s friend Dana, I heard that she has a little boy, I cannot wait to play games with him. Today mommy and grandma gave me a bath. I loved it, it was just like living in my mommy’s tummy.

It is a big big day. My cord fell off, it was hard to say goodbye to my lifeline. I am so excited, daddy does not have to put that nasty stuff on my tummy anymore. And you know what this means, I get to have a real bath...swimming pool here I come. I wonder if I am going to grow up to have an inny or an outtie. My aunt Emily found it in my diaper. Today I get to go to the doctor’s office again. I really like going there, the nurses are so nice, and they always give me compliments. I weigh 7.14 pounds and I am 21 inches long! Pretty soon I will be as tall as mommy.

"No daddy no don't go." Is what I kept saying. I heard daddy get up real early, and my daddy doesn't like to do that. He told me he had to go to work today. This work thing must not be too fun, you have to wake up to a loud noise, get dressed in a shiny outfit, and drive a really long way. Anyway, I am really sad today, my daddy is going to be gone all day long. I hope he knows how much I love him. I heard that my aunt Emily is going to stay the week with me. I am excited to spend time with her she really likes to rock me and bounce on the ball with me.

Today was a big day. They say day 10 is a tough day on mommys too, kinda like day 5. But this day was not going to bring my mommy down. So mommy and daddy needed to get out of the house to run some errands. I heard they had to go to a store that is as big as a mansion and it has all stuff for me! I wonder what they are going to bring me back. While I wait, my grandma and grandpa Wheeler took care of me. It was grandma Wheeler's birthday present to spend time with me. And when mommy and daddy came back, I got some presents: new bottles, more diapers, and those wet things they clean your bottom with...I really don't like those.

Daddy and grandpa are working so hard downstairs. They are reorganizing the garage so that we can fit cars inside. The two of them are real hard workers. I even got a new basement that I get to play in when I grow up…it has soft cushy carpet. I went down there today and hung out with my cousin Chris. Mommy said I was a little cranky today, I keep telling her I am not a big fan of the food she is giving me…I bet soon she will figure out that cry. I heard something real cool today. There were sounds all over the room, and I could find them with my eyes. How much fun is this. I can look at things now.

July 28, 2009 - Annointing Day

Doctor Church wanted me to come to his office for a check up since I decided to come early. Grandma and grandpa Cody helped get me cleaned up and dressed me in my “Island Princess” outfit. It is my favorite outfit, makes me want to go to the beach. I found out that I now weight 7 pounds 1 ounce and I am 19 ½ inches long.

My mommy and daddy love their Lord Jesus, and they always talk to me about him. Tonight was a special night where we talked all about Jesus. Daddy and grandpa Dale had felt it was important to anoint me with oil. It was so peaceful and beautiful to hear them pray over me and feel them anoint my head and feet. They used spikenard oil which is the same oil that Mary used in the Bible to anoint Jesus’ feet. My mommy bought this oil a long time ago knowing she would someday use it to bless her baby. There were so many people around me praying for me (mommy, daddy, grandparents, great grandparents, & Aunt Carolyn). I felt so very special and I know that I cannot wait to share about Jesus with my parents. And guess what, that night I slept so well, it was beautiful – immediately, my mom was transformed and she was always smile

July 27, 2009 -They Say Look out for Day 5

Guess what I am 5 days old. They tell me that the 5th day is really hard on mommy’s and my mommy was no different. She was sad today because it was really hard for her to give me enough food, and my tummy was not doing very well. But she is a fighter, and she got through the day, I love her so much. Tonight, I am going to sleep better through the night, I promise.

You know, I have loved getting to know all of these groovy people. The nurses took such good care of me: Cher, Dana, Patti, Lisa, Brenda, Piki, Kathy and Monica. The last one we had was Monica, and she was the coolest. Her voice sounded a little different, my mommy told me it was her accent. I loved it.

Monica told me that, today I get to go to someplace called home. Grandma Paula and grandma MaryBeth got me all dressed in a really cute outfit and put me in my car seat for the first time. They told me that daddy had to buy a different car because of this car seat thing, how cool is that.

I really don’t know what to about this being in the world stuff. I kinda miss my nice dark swimming pool, but I love my mommy and daddy. We get to this house place and there are balloons and everything from the Christensen's. I am so excited. Tonight, I got to sleep in a bassinet, but in the middle of my sleep I called for my grandma. I love hearing my voice, it is really pretty. She took really good care of me for many hours.
